The thing is price point. It's Andriods price point that enabled it to grow market share so fast. When App developers from China or India start developing more Apps more often they're more likely to start on Andriod as it's more affordable and what they're most likely using themselves. An iphone costs a whole months salary in China, and that's the people with good jobs. No doubt demand is robust for iphones in these markets but how many people can realistically afford them? Sooner or later smart App developers will go for volume & growth over prestige. It's in these huge emerging markets where the mobile war will be won because this is where the most volume & growth potential are. This goes for Apps, handset, or anything else. Anyway, congrats to Istagram!
